Reading Autobiography

When I was a lot younger, my parents used to read books to me. The moment I was able to read myself, I started to read books about the Roman empire and other historical topics, but I stopped when I was 9 years old. In the following years I didn’t read much, only mandatory books for subjects at school. At the age of 13 I became interested in the Harry Potter series after seeing the first film. J.K. Rowling’s writing style, together with the mysterious world where Harry lived, appealed to me. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the first book that I had to finish reading. Every minute of the day I wanted to read, where I normally played videogames.
After finishing the whole series, I quit reading for no reason. I don’t know why I stopped reading because I had fun doing it. This ‘sabbatical’ continued for a couple of years until I recently decided it was time for a change. Fortunately, my brothers helped me this time to get interested in particular type of books.
This time, I became interested the books written by Dan Brown. My brothers both read the books and told me how well the books were written, the fascinating parts of the books etc. They convinced me, so I read ‘The Da Vinci Code”.  Apparently I have the same taste as my brothers because I found the book interesting and well written as well and I was a fan of the books of Dan Brown ever since.

Nowadays,  I’m more into reading books(especially when they’re written in English) than ever before, which hopefully positively influences  my reading skills and vocabulary. The increasing enthusiasm is right on time, because the Literature II course obliges me to read a lot. If you had asked me to read a book a week a couple years ago, I  would have objected which is definitely not the case now.
